SEN Teaching Methods—Arithmetic

This course provides participants with evidence based instructional methods for teaching arithmetic to students with learning differences and disabilities. Topics include foundational numeracy skills, number sense, computation strategies, and the use of concrete representational-abstract (CRA) approaches.

Participants will learn how to adapt arithmetic instruction to address specific learning challenges such as dyscalculia, working memory deficits, and language-based math difficulties. The course also covers the integration of manipulatives, visual aids, and technology to promote conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning. Participants will also have an understanding of Dyscalculia and related disorders.

SEN Teaching Methods—Reading

This course explores evidence based instructional methods and strategies for teaching reading to students with various learning needs, including those with disabilities.

It emphasizes the principles of differentiated instruction and the science of reading. The course prepares participants to design and deliver effective, individualized reading interventions across the five essential components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

The course also addresses culturally responsive teaching, the use of assistive technology, and collaboration with families and professionals to support student success. Participants will also have an understanding of Dyslexia and related disorders.

SEN Technology

This module explores the evolving role of technology in supporting learners with special educational needs. Participants will examine how software, hardware, and assistive technologies can be integrated into classrooms and therapeutic settings to enhance accessibility and learning outcomes. The course also introduces artificial intelligence (AI) and its emerging applications in personalized learning, communication aids, and predictive interventions for students with diverse needs. Through real-world examples and case studies, learners will gain practical strategies for selecting and implementing the right tools to support inclusive education in both physical and virtual learning environments.

SEN Data Collection and Interpretation

This course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to effectively collect, analyze, and interpret data for students with special needs. Understanding the unique educational needs of these students and using data to drive instructional and intervention decisions is crucial for promoting their academic success and overall well-being.

SEN RTI and IEP

This course in Special Education provides an in-depth understanding of Response to Intervention (RTI) and the Individualized Education Plan (IEP), two critical frameworks used to support students with various learning needs. Participants will examine the multi-tiered RTI model designed to identify and assist struggling learners. They will also explore strategies for effective interventions.

SEN Diagnostics—The Team Approach—Social Worker

This course provides an introduction to Social Work as it relates to Special Education. The course intends to provide newcomers to Social Work with a strong baseline of information. The course enables the students / participants to engage fully in various dimensions and levels of Social Work, to build on the knowledge base in terms of knowledge, skills and attributes.

SEN Diagnostics—The Team Approach—School Psychologist

This course in special education provides an introduction to the SEN Diagnostics Team. The course is intended to provide newcomers to special education with a strong baseline of information that enables the student to engage more fully in various dimensions and levels of special education, and to build on the knowledge base in terms of own knowledge, skills, and attitudes.  

SEN Disorders—ADHD

This course in special education provides an introduction to ADHD. The course is intended to provide newcomers to special education with a strong baseline of information that enables the student to engage more fully in various dimensions and levels of special education, and to build on the knowledge base in terms of own knowledge, skills, and attitudes.  

SEN Teaching Methods—Multi-Sensory Learning

This foundational course in special education provides a broad view of multisensory classroom  methods as they apply to teaching and learning. It provides a general view of multisensory  learning along with various strategies for implementation. The course is intended to provide  newcomers to multisensory education with a strong baseline of information that enables the  student to engage more fully as they develop the knowledge and skills for providing  intervention and accommodations for students with special needs.

SEN Leadership

This course in special education introduces SEN Leadership to students. The course is intended to provide newcomers to special education with a strong baseline of information that enables the student to engage more fully in various dimensions and levels of special education, and to build on the knowledge base in terms of own knowledge, skills, and attitudes.  

SEN Governance

US$300

At the end of this course, students are expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of governance and good governance as they relate to the learning needs of persons with disabilities, including knowledge of landmark legislation within their own country. They should be able to identify and explain the policies used within their schools that define governance and guide special education practices. Additionally, students will define and describe their own philosophy of good governance in relation to special educational needs, grounded in ethics and equity. Finally, they will demonstrate a positive attitude toward building a sustainable and inclusive future for all through both formal and informal governance.

SEN Research Methods—Qualitative, Quantitative, and Mixed Methods

This course in special education provides an introduction to Research Methods. The course is intended to provide students with the skills to design and implement a research study using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research. This knowledge will enable students to engage more fully in various dimensions and levels of special education, and contribute new knowledge to the field of special education.

SEN Autonomy—Life Coach and Transitioning to the Workplace

A comprehensive online training that delivers in- depth understanding of the key elements of Life Coaching and transitioning into the Workplace. The course is intended to provide  persons with disabilities (PWDs) with mentors who will help to improve the following (1) the  home environment, (2) the social well-being, (3) hobbies and activities, (4) networking and exploring suitable places of employment, (5) making the best use of the organizations and (6) resume writing and work ethics.

SEN Categories

This course in special education provides a comprehensive exploration of all the categories of exceptional children. It includes all eligibility requirements for students with disabilities. It emphasizes the importance of inclusion of exceptional students in the mainstream classroom and support of students with disabilities in the regular classroom. In this course, students will seek to understand the different categories of exceptional children and will learn how to apply the information about disabilities within a regular classroom setting.

SEN Foundations—Sociology

US$300

This course explores the phenomenon of specialness and the associated issues through the sociological lens, underlining the socially constructed nature of human status positions, behaviors, and thought. This focus is pursued through an examination of the central elements of culture and the core features of social structure. Accordingly, some of the foundational social categories and societal practices would be examined.  The particular perspective the discipline of sociology brings to the study of human life and society is emphasized and constitutes the frame of reference by which the various topics identified are examined as they relate to the phenomenon of specialness.

SEN Teaching Methods—Writing

This course equips participants with effective, research-based strategies for teaching writing to students with special educational needs. Participants will explore the cognitive, linguistic, and motor challenges that impact writing development, including difficulties with handwriting, spelling grammar, organization, and written expression.

Emphasis will be placed on individualized and differentiated instruction, assistive technology and multi-sensory approaches to support the writing process, from prewriting and drafting to revising and publishing.

Participants will learn to design inclusive writing lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners and align with curriculum standards and IEP goals. Participants will also have an understanding of Dysgrafia and related disorders.
