Mrs. Charmaine Blanchette, BEd
Mrs. Charmaine Blanchette is a seasoned special education specialist with over 35 years of experience in education. She holds a B.Ed. in Special Education from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma from Mico University College. She is also a Certified Autism Specialist with training in Applied Behavior Analysis, Supervisory Management, and Teaching for Neurodiversity.
Currently an Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, St. Kitts, Mrs. Blanchette oversees Early Childhood and Special Education Services. She develops policy, trains educators, and ensures support for students with diverse learning needs. Her wide-ranging career includes roles as classroom teacher, deputy principal, principal, education clinician, and education officer, giving her a comprehensive view of inclusive education.
As former principal of Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, she led curriculum modifications, introduced innovative teaching strategies, and developed Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to enhance outcomes for special needs learners. Her expertise spans assessment and placement at all educational levels.
