Ms. Charmaine Blanchette, BEd

Mrs. Charmaine Blanchette is a highly experienced special education specialist with over 35 years in the field of education. She holds a Bachelor’s of Education in Special Education from the University of the West Indies and a Diploma in Special Education from Mico University College. Additionally, she is a Certified Autism Specialist with specialized training in Applied Behavior Analysis, Supervisory Management, and Teaching for Neurodiversity.


Currently serving as an Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, St. Kitts, Mrs. Blanchette is responsible for coordinating Early Childhood and Special Education Services, developing policies, training teachers, and ensuring effective support for students with diverse learning needs. Her career has encompassed various roles, including classroom teacher, deputy principal, principal, education clinician, and education officer, allowing her to gain a well-rounded perspective on inclusive education.


As Principal of Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, she played a pivotal role in implementing curriculum modifications, developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and introducing innovative instructional techniques to improve learning outcomes for special needs students. Her expertise spans assessment, evaluation, and placement of special needs learners at the early childhood, primary, and secondary levels.


Mrs. Blanchette is deeply committed to advocating for individuals with special educational needs and disabilities. She works tirelessly to promote inclusive practices, empower educators, and support families in navigating the educational system. Her leadership and dedication have made a significant impact on the special education community.


In SEN Teaching Methods, Mrs. Blanchette will equip educators with effective classroom strategies, behavior management techniques, and differentiated instruction methods to support students with diverse learning needs. Her lifelong mission is to ensure that every learner, regardless of ability, has access to quality education and the necessary support to reach their fullest potential.
