The SEN World Languages Department is dedicated to making language learning accessible, engaging, and empowering for individuals with special educational needs (SEN). Through specialized instructional methods and adaptive tools, the department offers learners the opportunity to explore new languages, cultures, and modes of communication in ways that honor their unique strengths and learning styles. Whether developing foundational language skills or advancing bilingual proficiency, programs are designed to support cognitive growth, cultural awareness, and personal confidence. The department emphasizes inclusion, flexibility, and celebration of diversity, helping students connect with the world around them and broaden their horizons. Department Chair
Ms. Givan Hinds, MPH, MAT
Ms. Givan Hinds, MPH, MAT is an educator, writer, artist, and public health professional dedicated to empowering communities through education, language acquisition, and global health initiatives. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (specializing in K–12 French and TESOL) and a Master of Public Health in Global Health, bringing a distinctive interdisciplinary approach to her leadership of the SEN World Languages Department at CESC.
With over a decade of combined experience in secondary education and international development, Givan has taught French at KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso, advancing maternal and child health education. She also founded La Petite École, an innovative initiative that merges health promotion and education for underserved communities.
Fluent in English and professionally proficient in French, Givan is passionate about fostering cross-cultural understanding, building global competencies, and creating transformative learning experiences through language and community engagement.

La Petite École - Collaborative Learning and Education Services

La Petite École is a vibrant educational and artistic platform dedicated to nurturing creativity, academic excellence, and global citizenship. Founded by Givan Hinds, an artist, educator, and public health professional , La Petite École combines over a decade of expertise in teaching and community development to empower learners of all ages.
The school offers a range of personalized services, including French and English academic tutoring, musical performance and collaboration (with a focus on bass guitar), and special arts-based projects. Through immersive and encouraging learning experiences, La Petite École helps students develop their artistry, strengthen their language skills, and achieve their personal and professional goals.
