Dr. Judith Josiah Martin

Dr. Judith Josiah Martin is a seasoned clinical social worker, educator, and passionate advocate for mental health, social justice, and inclusive development. With over 40 years of experience in clinical social work and leadership, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Chair of the SEN Society and Lecturer in SEN Social Work at the Charlotte Education Services Consortium (CESC).


Dr. Josiah Martin holds a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from Smith College and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She is licensed to practice in the State of Maine and has served in diverse capacities across community health, education, mental health, and program development. Her career has included roles as a program administrator, trauma and substance use specialist, mental health trainer, consultant, educator, and community advocate.


Through her consultancy, Dr. Judi Speaks and her leadership at JJMA Professional Development Services, she has trained and mentored countless professionals, promoting culturally responsive care and equity in diverse and underrepresented communities. She is particularly known for her innovative work in inclusive communication, transformative leadership, and strength-based interventions for families and individuals.


As Chair of the SEN Society, Dr. Josiah Martin is committed to championing meaningful inclusion and shaping future-ready leaders equipped to address the complex needs of neurodivergent and marginalized learners. Her work is deeply rooted in dignity, purpose, and justice, values she continues to bring to every classroom, boardroom, and community she serves.
