Dr. Carla Copeland-Joseph, EdS, PhD, NCSP

Dr. Carla Copeland-Joseph is a seasoned educator, researcher, and school psychologist with over 23 years of experience in education. A dedicated advocate for children and families, she is passionate about guiding them through challenging life experiences to achieve their fullest potential.
Dr. Copeland-Joseph holds a PhD and an EdS in School Psychology from Andrews University, as well as a Master’s in Development Statistics from the University of the West Indies. She is also a US-certified school psychologist with extensive expertise in psychoeducational assessments, intervention planning, and counseling.
Throughout her career, Dr. Copeland-Joseph has served in various roles, including secondary school teacher, university lecturer, and coordinator of psychology programs at the University of the Southern Caribbean. Her academic contributions span teaching courses such as research methods, human development, and assessment, as well as supervising psychology students and facilitating their practicums. As the Lead Statistician for multiple research projects, she has provided data analysis and insights to support impactful initiatives.
Dr. Copeland-Joseph has also made significant community contributions. She co-hosted the radio program Lifeline, offering advice on mental health and family issues. She has delivered numerous presentations across institutions and countries on topics such as emotional intelligence, classroom management, and effective interventions for children with special needs.
As a proud wife and mother, Dr. Copeland-Joseph values her family as a life-changing blessing. Her ultimate mission is to serve God and humanity, reflecting her deep compassion and commitment to helping others.
In the CESC Certificate in Special Education, Dr. Copeland-Joseph will teach Module 2: SEN Categories, equipping participants with a thorough understanding of the diverse needs of students with special educational needs.
