Topic: Creating an Indigenous Medicine Garden
Regina Idoate, PhD, is a mother, an educator, a conceptual adventurer, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, and a community-engaged Indigenous health researcher who serves as Director of Spirituality, Culture and Health in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her research focuses on community systems in relation to culture, ecology and health. She has a particular interest in weaving together diverse ways of knowing to collaborate across disciplines and cultures. She is grateful to serve as a mentor to students and educators in the Youth Enjoy Science program, the Omaha Professional Chapter of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society and the Break the Cycle of Children’s Environmental Health Disparities program. Regina appreciates time and space to play, pray, wonder and wander.
